Our Approach to Therapy

The therapeutic relationship can be one of the most powerful, meaningful, and intimate relationships that we develop in our lives. Establishing a relationship with a therapist is great first step towards improving your mental health. In order for this to happen, the client needs to feel understood, supported, and empowered by the counselor. At Grey Area Therapy, we recognize these elements and they are the foundation to every relationship that we form with our clients. When appropriate, humor and self-disclosure are also utilized in counseling sessions. 

 

Our team of therapists come from unique backgrounds and experiences. We are trained in and utilize a variety of theoretical orientations depending on the unique needs of the clients and specialized training of our clinicians on staff. Our team utilizes interventions that are evidenced-based and derive from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Exposure & Response Prevention, Internal Family Systems, and Narrative Therapy.
